A key role of the Health Community Council will be to:

- oversee from a community perspective the quality and safety of local public health services;

- undertake community and consumer engagement activities; and

- assist with community education about the health system.

"In essence, Health Community Councils are to talk to the community about Health Services and tell Queensland Health what they are hearing," the Minister states in his appointment letter.

"As a member of the Council you will also be keeping an eye on the quality of health services and how any complaints about public health services made to Queensland Health are being managed."
