Students of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music at CQUniversity Mackay have had the chance to learn and be inspired by internationally acclaimed artistic director, choreographer and performer, Gerald Trentham...
Their 2-week Australian National Performance Intensive Workshop, coordinated by S.C.A.R Australia (Strengthening Collaborative Arts Relationships), in collaboration with pounds per square inch Performance Company based in Toronto, Canada, is designed for emerging professional actors (stage and screen), acting and voice teachers and other performing artists.
Gerald Trentham, visiting Artistic Director
It is intended to extend participants' performance, directing and teaching skills, renew and revitalize the craft of performance, develop a coherent approach to physical, vocal and text preparation and improve skills with spoken language through exploration of classical text.
Workshop facilitator, Gerald Trentham, is the founder and Artistic Director of pounds per square inch (lbs/sq") Performance Company and has performed throughout Canada, the USA and Europe. His company has assisted in the development, creation and presentation of more than 20 productions of numerous independent artists and been involved in a variety of arts education initiatives throughout Canada.
The goal of this major collaborative project is to create an Australian arm of the 'National Voice Intensive', which would be the first of its kind in Australia and a major proponent of professional arts development in regional Queensland.
The workshop will conclude with a public performance on Friday, February 27 from 7.30pm at the CQCM Theatre (CQUniversity Mackay, Planlands).
The performance will showcase the work of participants, and will also feature a guest performance by Gerald Trentham. Bookings can be made by contacting Jordan Edmeades on phone 0417 279 485.
