CQU Travel bursaries help students explore different worlds

Alex Nesevski, along with 4 CQU Mackay students, has recently returned home from the US after a CQU-funded study abroad experience in various US universities.

Alex's  journey to the University of Louisville  (UoL) Jazz school was a rich learning experience which saw him mentored by  Jazz great such as Chick Corea and Bobby McFerrin (don't worry, be happy!).

While at UoL, Alex furthered his experience in improvised jazz solos and also had the opportunity to spend time in an evangelical church known for its soul-revealing cascades of gospel singing.

Another highlight for Alex was playing in the UoL marching band at several gigs including the infamous Kentucky Derby where he found himself closer to the action than billionaires in luxury trackside suites.

Alex believes the study abroad experience helped him grow musically and personally.

"CQU gave me an amazing opportunity and really helped me broaden my horizons and experience a whole new world of Music," said Alex.

Like Alex, all CQU Mackay students in their second year have the opportunity to study overseas for a term or a year.

CQU currently has student exchange programs to Germany, Norway, UK, Canada, France, Hong Kong,  Japan, Sweden and the USA.

To make the dream of studying abroad more accessible, $5000 travel bursaries are available for CQU students to assist with travel and accommodation expenses while abroad.
