Central Queensland University’s Faculty of Education & Creative Arts farewelled Dr Chris Woodrow last Friday as she prepared to take up her new position as an Associate Professor at the University of Western Sydney.
CQU Rockhampton staff took the opportunity to farewell Dr Woodrow with a drink and nibblies last Friday.
Dr Woodrow, who was a senior lecturer of Early Childhood Education, completed a variety of research projects, in particular on ethical practices of early childhood professionals.
Her recent doctoral project investigated ethical experiences of leaders in early childhood organisations, sourcing feminist approaches to ethics and elements of the emerging applied ethics movement. Dr Woodrow graduated with her PhD at the recent CQU graduation ceremony in Rockhampton.
While at CQU, Dr Woodrow established flexible delivery within early childhood education and also created a link with childcare education within the TAFE sector and the Bachelor of Education program.
She said this gave students from TAFE the opportunity to upgrade to teacher qualifications in a regional area. Beforehand, this opportunity was only available in metropolitan centres.
“While at CQU I was pleased to be apart of the expansion of the early childhood program to regional campuses, other that Rockhampton,” Dr Woodrow said.
“I am sad to leave, but also excited about working with some established researchers and enjoying life in a big city.
“I hope to be able to expand my networks and work more nationally.”
