Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Pros mentor CQU Performing Arts students 

CQU Performing Arts students are worked with industry professionals this week in Rockhampton in staging the final year production of "Guys and Dolls", through Friday..

Stage and television performers Wayne Scott Kermond and Katie Kermond shared techniques and with first, second and third year students, enhancing the learning experience.

Wayne Scott Kermond starred in "Singin' in the Rain" nationally and internationally is a well-established cabaret and corporate entertainer. He’s one of Australia's most versatile performers, having worked extensively in theatre, film and television.

Katie has starred in many musical and shows such as "Chicago" and "Guys and Dolls"..

“Wayne interrupted filming for a major movie being shot in Sydney to work with CQU students,” said Dr Emma Killion, CQU Bachelor of Performing Arts coordinator.
