Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Gonna get round to writing - Donna can help! 

Anyone keen to find out about how to write and publish a book is welcome to attend this month's Literary Latte at Rockhampton Northside Library, 154 Berserker Street.

The event, featuring CQU's Associate Professor Donna Lee Brien, will be held from 7pm on Wednesday April 30.

Donna will share her writing journey and will encourage writers to grasp local writing opportunities.

The CQU academic has previously worked as a secondary English teacher, with artist Ken Done as Director of special projects, at the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, and as a teacher of writing, publishing and editing at QUT and the University of New England.

Currently the Head of the School of Arts and Creative Enterprise at CQU, Donna is the author of self-help books The Girl's Guide to Work and Life: How to Create the Life You Want, Allen & Unwin, 2004, and The Girl's Guide to Real Estate: How to Enjoy Investing in Property, Allen & Unwin, 2002. She was the editor of dotlit: the Online Journal of Creative Writing from 2000 to 2005, and is currently Associate Editor of New Writing: the international Journal for the Practice and Theory of Creative Writing (UK) and the President of the Australian Association of Writing Programs.
