'Green' bus service praised

The new shuttle bus service has been praised as a 'green' initiative.
“The new staff bus service between CQU Rockhampton and the city campus is not only saving money - it is also saving the environment,” according to Dee Reeve from Greening CQU.
As one of the first 'sustainable management practice' initiatives to be implemented under CQU's Environmental Policy, it is welcomed and endorsed by the Greening CQU group, according to Ms Reeve.
The new service will allow CQU staff to travel from the main campus to the city campus at regular intervals throughout the day from 9am to 4.30pm.
The bus leaves the main campus, at the flagpoles, on the hour and leaves the city campus (opposite the MLC building) on the half hour.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Kevin Fagg (Resources) said the service would be for a trial period of three months and may be adjusted to suit the business needs of the University. Any changes to the schedule will be advised by e-mail.
This Service has been established by Financial Services through Administrative Services and any improvements or comments on the service can be addressed to Kelly Doble Supply Department. A mobile phone will be purchased for the Unit to allow for some flexibility - the number will be advised in due course.
“In these times of increased Budget scrutiny I suggest maximum usage of the facility in lieu of taxis so as to effect savings for the University,” Professor Fagg said.
