Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Nursing students meet with industry 

CQUniversity Bundaberg is hosting a Nursing Career Expo on Wednesday June 30 from 10.30am to 12pm.

The expo is part of a 4-day residential and has been organized to introduce third year nursing students to industry employers within the Bundaberg region.

During the residential these CQUniversity nursing students will learn from guest speakers within industry and hear from nursing academics.

They will also take part in a series of educational discussions that will influence their practice once graduated.  

"Nursing is one of only a few professions that can guarantee employment," CQUniversity's Nursing Lecturer Sam Stakenburg said.

"A degree delivered by CQUniversity is of the highest quality and our graduates are well sourced within our local community."

Some of the Bundaberg industry partners attending are Bundaberg Base Hospital, Friendly Society Private Hospital, Mater Hospital Bundaberg, Milbank Village Nursing Home, RFDS (Royal Flying Doctors Service), Qld Nursing Union, GPLinks and CQUniversity.
