FBI students bid for prizes at O Week Funny Money Auction

CQU Faculty of Business and Informatics students who attended O Week activities had the opportunity to bid for some great prizes at last week's Funny Money Auction.

Student Services put on some very important information sessions during O Week, and to encourage students to attend as many as possible, FBI students received novelty cash (funny money) for each session they attended. This is the fifth year the auction has been in held and it is always a fun event.

The bidding was fierce, with many items being sold for thousands of funny dollars - the highest bid received was well over $11,000 for CQU Bookshop vouchers kindly donated by The Faculty of Business and Informatics.

Many great prizes were on offer including: Rydges accomodation, trips to Great Keppel Island, Sizzlers vouchers, CQU Bookshop backpacks, Koorana Crocodile Farm tours, Tuckers Cycle Inn vouchers, 2 x 14" TVs with built in DVD player from Home Delivered Computers, Eagle Boys Pizza, and vouchers for the Heritage Hotel and Allenstown Hotel worth $100.

Even the students who didn't win the prizes they had their eyes on in the auction went away with something, with gifts from Stockland and McDonalds in all the student bags.

The auction gave a chance for some of the new Business students to practice their accountancy skills as well as learning about strategic planning and negotiation techniques.
