Laughter Flows at Bundaberg Arts Centre
Published on 15 May, 2003
Entertaining clowns, laughing children, colourful paintings and spontaneous creativity are just some of the words to describe the action at Bundaberg’s Arts Centre when the Litres of Laughter exhibition was opened recently.
Every Wide Bay school, preschool, day care centre, kindergarten and early childhood centre were invited to participate in the annual Under 8's Week art collection. The exhibition is designed to help celebrate children's portrayal of magnificent imagination, individuality and creativity through their art work.
Curated by CQU Bundaberg third year early childhood students in conjunction with the Arts Centre the Litres of Laughter theme coincides with the 2003 International Year of Fresh Water. It also encompasses the broad concept of joy, fun, support and happiness in the early childhood years.
Children also had the chance to display their creativity by participating in the numerous art workshops organised to coincide with the exhibition.
The 18 students involved with the exhibition had a range of duties to ensure the exhibition’s success. These ranged from selecting the art work to display and collecting resources for the opening night to conducting written and verbal communications for education providers and the media, right down to organising catering and flowers.
CQU Bundaberg Arts lecturer Jenny McDuff opened the exhibition, which continues until June 1, 2003.
