Love of outdoors led to career in mining

Growing up in Rockhampton, Jade Buller loved going on fishing, camping and bushwalking adventures with her family. Her love of the outdoors has led to a career in mining.
Jade graduated from CQUniversity in 2005 with Biological Science degree, majoring in aquatic resources management.
She then spent a year overseas backpacking before returning to work as an assistant at the University's Centre for Environmental Management, researching algae and industrial water quality.
Jade progressed into a job with BMA Coal as a Graduate Environmental Advisor and has been rotated to work at the 80km-long Blackwater open cut mine and also the smaller Gregory Crinum Mine, which has both open cut and underground operations.
Her latest rotation is to BMA's Brisbane environmental group and she is due to become a fully-fledged environmental advisor from March this year.
Jade explained that the Brisbane group was involved in all of BMA's Queensland sites and also dealt with various government authorities.
She expects to spend some of her time visiting mine sites in her new role - just not as often as in her graduate role.
