Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Launch for literary magazine, writing awards 

CQUniversity is planning a launch for the latest Idiom 23 Literary Magazine, from 4pm on Wednesday March 25...

The launch at Rockhampton Campus Bookshop will also serve as a local launch for Professor Denis Cryle's latest book, Murdoch's Flagship: Twenty-five Years of The Australian Newspaper*.

This launch period coincides with the annual invitation for entries for the Bauhinia Literary Awards (due by July 24). The regular short story and poetry categories have been supplemented by a new AustraLearn prize open to international students. Details are at www.idiom23.cqu.edu.au

Idiom 23 Literary Magazine spokesperson Liz Huf said contributions for the latest issue had come from 2008 Awards entries, as well as collaborations with coastal artists at The Gallery (Emu Park), a writers' workshop at North Keppel Island and student photomedia and science fiction.

"We're celebrating 21 years of publishing Idiom," Ms Huf said.

All interested people are invited to the launch of Idiom 23 by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Angela Delves and Adjunct Professor Ross Quinn (former ABC Manager). Light refreshements will be available. RSVP to Jade Dendle via j.dendle@cqu.edu.au
