Amazing drummer set to rock Mackay CQCM
Published on 29 May, 2007
Described as a ‘master drummer' and one of ‘Australia's hottest professional drummers', Grant Collins will wow audiences at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music theatre (CQCM) with an intense performance on May 19 from 8pm.
Grant is one of the forerunners in the industry, forever pushing boundaries and enticing audiences with his unconventional use of his four limbs, both collectively and individually to stretch the instrument to its extremes.
Grant and his monsterous drum kit set to rock Mackay audiencesHe has received high accolades and reviews around the world for his DVD, Live at the Tivoli - The official bootleg and his CDs Primal Instinct and Dogboy.
Grant's instrument is unique as he is. It takes 2 men to assemble in nearly 2 hours and is worth over $75, 000. It resembles an artistic sculpture made from drumming equipment more than a functional drum, physically able to be played by any human.
Based in Brisbane, Grant is no stranger to the CQCM. He has played a total of 3 sell-out concerts; has taught and mentored students at the CQCM and has run drumming workshops open for the public.
Grant will run yet another workshop on Friday May 18 at 6.30pm and those interested should contact the CQCM on 4940 7800. The workshop is open to anybody interested in drums and will cost $15.
Tickets for Grants concert are on sale now. $15 for students and children, $30 for adults, $25 concession. Don't miss out, phone 4940 7800 to secure your seats!
