Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Jennifer Kofoed awarded Innovative Teacher of the Year 

Ms Kofoed was awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Innovative Teacher of the Year award ($5000) for 2008.

She exudes a passion for teaching complex concepts and is highly regarded by her students for applying them to practical situations.

The Rockhampton-based accounting teacher (until recently from Mackay) recognises the wide range of pre-existing skills her students have, and encourages active participation in a journey of discovery with the aim of leading students to being intrinsically motivated.

Ms Kofoed was also awarded the Award for Teaching Excellence ($1000) for the Faculty of Business and Informatics.
