ResearchExpo 'celebration' primed for April

CQUniversity's 1st Annual ResearchExpo, primed to be held from April 12-16, will be a week-long celebration to raise awareness of our research activities, expertise and level of research engagement with Central Queensland organisations.

Events will be held both on and off campus.

Faces of research

CQUniversity's research makes a significant and positive contribution to the University's overall reputation, especially within the Higher Education sector and amongst Central Queensland stakeholders.

The people who conduct the research, the projects themselves, and the partners who fund and engage the University all contribute to who we are and what we stand for.

The Expo will acknowledge our research partnerships and joint successes and will reaffirm the University's commitment to research that engages industry, business and government and benefits the communities in which we live.

More details will become available in coming weeks via the Expo website http://cqu.edu.au/2010researchexpo

The University will produce a special publication for the Expo, Link Magazine, and stakeholders will be invited to participate at sites where CQUniversity research occurs or has an impact.

Last year, CQUniversity's research was recognised among the best. The global report on research performance, collaboration and impact by Spanish-based SCImago ranked CQUniversity 24th in Australia.

The Expo idea was brought up at CQUniversity's November 2009 leadership conference of academic and professional staff. Participants acknowledged that University practice, perception and culture prevent us, sometimes, from engaging with our stakeholders as fully as we would like. Delegates confirmed that a broader institutional agenda of outreach and engagement was required and that university-wide involvement was absolutely essential in creating the truly engaged university we want. This Expo will bring us closer to those ideals.

Please mark your calendars. Please make time to learn more and participate. And please encourage your networks of friends and professional colleagues to come along - many things will be open to the public and all of it will be interesting.
