A select group of CQ region managers will be able to benefit from the fact Yeppoon is hosting a major symposium on 'Shiftwork and Working Time' in August this year.

While the symposium is for academics, 2 special workshops have been arranged for regional managers.

One workshop will look at the latest research on shiftwork and well-being. The topics covered include health, safety, driver fatigue and fatigue management. This workshop is limited to the first 50 delegates to ensure an interactive environment.

The second workshop for up to 20 people will offer insights into the best software for shiftwork and rostering.

The workshops will be presented by national and internationally-respected shiftwork experts, assembled for the symposium (details of which are at www.shiftwork.cqu.edu.au ).

Symposium organiser Associate Professor Lee Di Milia said some of the visiting speakers have had extensive experience in Australian industry, including mining, aviation and health services.

"This is the first time since 1994 that this meeting has taken place in Australia. This provides a unique opportunity to participate," Dr Di Milia said.

The workshop will be held on August 27 at Rydges Resort at Yeppoon.
