Sue shaves for a cure

Beanies have become the new fashion accessory for Central Queensland University’s Sue Thorne who’s feeling a little chillier after she shaved her hair for cancer research last night.
Sue, an administration officer at CQU Gladstone said she was still getting use to her new “hairstyle”.
“It was a little cool this morning and I’m sure I’ll get a few laughs over the next couple of weeks but it’s all for a very good cause,” said Mrs Thorne.
Sue accepted the challenge to shave her hair as part of “The World’s Greatest Shave for a Cure 2003”.
The “Shave for a Cure” is the Leukaemia Foundation’s biggest annual fundraising event where participants shave or colour their hair to raise funds for leukaemia research and patient support.
“I really wanted to get involved in fundraising for the Foundation and when I thought about it, shaving was probably the easiest way to raise money because it doesn’t involve selling raffle tickets.
“My young daughters were more horrified by it all then I was, but they seem to be coping well with my new look,” she said.
Sue is still accepting donations for her shave and can be contacted on 4970 7326 for details.
