Karen hammers home benefits of perseverance

Karen Reynolds has been hammering away building her career in the construction industry, but she has not forgotten to study along the way.

At the recent CQUniversity graduation in Rockhampton, she added a Bachelor of Construction Management with Honours to the Business degree she started eight years ago. Both awards involved juggling part-time study alongside full-time work.

With help from the momentum from her degree, Karen has also recently passed her assessment with the Queensland Building Services Authority (QBSA) to become one of the youngest women in Queensland to hold a Low-Rise Builders' Licence.

While working in Rockhampton over recent years, she helped deliver projects including the Churchs Redevelopment, the Southside Pool and several Catholic School upgrades.

After a brief stint in Tasmania last year, she has returned to Central Queensland, specifically Moranbah, where she is employed as a contracts administrator, helping a company called AWX Mining Support Services to build 107 houses for a mining company.
