Rockhampton Campus hosts Victorian State Coroner

Central Queensland University staff and students and interested community members are welcome to attend a seminar by the Victorian State Coroner, from 9am-1pm next Monday (September 1).
The Victorian State Coroner, Graeme Johnstone will speak on 'Learning from the past to prevent deaths in future'.
CQU senior lecturer in Occupational Health and Safety, Yvonne Toft said Mr Johnstone would have time after the seminar to meet researchers or local industry representatives. Appointments can be made by calling 4930 6568.
Ms Toft said Mr Johnstone had delivered findings on cases including: 'Linton Bush Fires', 'Fires at Kew Residential Cottages', 'Mistral Fans Inquiry', 'Police Pursuits'; 'Heroin Overdose Project', 'Deaths in Custody at Port Phillip Prison', and 'Longford'.
Mr Johnstone has also undertaken many inquests in diverse areas such as farming deaths, work-related deaths, recreational deaths, medical adverse event deaths, and road and transport-related deaths where recommendations have been made to improve management systems or the safe design of systems, products and equipment.
He is noted internationally for his work related to identifying patterns of contributing factors across multiple accidents/deaths.
The visit is hosted by the faculties of Arts, Health & Sciences and Engineering & Physical Systems. The seminar will be held in Building 18 (G.40).
