Oliver Skrzypczynski thought jokingly that he might need a fire extinguisher at some stage during CQU performing arts students' Friday night (June 1) performance of 'Studio Sessions', especially when Meegan Fox (red top) and Arelene Gordon were involved.

Rockhampton audiences were treated to 3 premiere works, presented by Performing Arts students and (in the case of 2) choreographed by visiting industry professionals. The 3 works were collectively promoted as 'Studio Sessions'.

According to course coordinator Dr Emma Killion, "this presentation is a unique performance and featured 2 premiere dance pieces by well known performers Katie Kermond and Dale Pengelly, along with choreography by 2006 BPA Graduate, Julia Thornton".

"Alongside these works, vocal and instrumental ensemble work featuring popular songs and rhythmic percussion were presented by the music students following intensive workshopping by Industry professional, and Queensland Conservatorium lecturer, Irene Bartlett. 

"This public presentation is an exciting opportunity for these students as it not only represents the culmination of 12 weeks of work but also showcases works prepared and created especially for this company of performers by some of the leading performing arts industry professionals.

"These students have worked alongside these professionals within intensive workshop situations and this has given them the opportunity of being involved in the creation of pieces from the ground level.

The Industry Mentor involvement within the performing arts is a crucial way to ensure students get the latest insights, and also networks, within the entertainment industry."

Studio Sessions provided the audience with an opportunity to share the experience of seeing the rising stars of the dance and music industry on stage.
