Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU donates $10,000 to flood relief fund

With clean-up underway in Emerald, recovery centres opened throughout Central Queensland and the Fitzroy River at Rockhampton expecting to peak within the next 24 hours, Central Queensland University (CQU) announced that it would donate $10,000 to the Premier of Queensland's Disaster Relief Appeal to assist community members affected by the Queensland floods.

"The floods here have caused widespread damage in our communities across Central Queensland. This will help provide immediate help," said CQU Vice Chancellor John Rickard.

Professor Rickard, among a number of staff members making private donations to the fund, made an appeal to all employees who were able to contribute in some way to recovery efforts.

To donate to the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal call 1800 440 074. Funds will be distributed by the Red Cross.
