Sports doctors and trainers need to be fit for run-on roles
Published on 16 June, 2004
Doctors and trainers who run on to the field to treat injuries should be fit and aware of the rules regarding interaction with players, according to sports medicine leader Erik Hohmann.
Mr Hohmann, an orthopaedic surgeon and Associate Professor at CQU, said the weekend's footage of an AFL match showing a clash between a doctor and a player had brought these issues into the spotlight.
Mr Hohmann said the clash was sure to be a topic of conversation in the lead-up to the 2nd CQ Sports Medicine and Sports Science Conference and a Sports Trainer Course in Rockhampton from July 16-18.
