Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

$500 Awarded to CQU Student from Emerald 

$500 Awarded to CQU Student from Emerald Central Queensland University student Jonathan Ladewig received a $500 award towards his studies thanks to the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA), Central Highlands Division.

PhotoID:44 The Emerald native is a Bachelor of Information Systems/ Bachelor of Accounting student at CQU’s Rockhampton campus. He’s a boarding master at Rockhampton Grammar School.

“I’m grateful for this and will us the money to buy textbooks. It should be enough to cover the costs of most of my books with a few dollars left over,” said Ladewig.

Jonathon received the award Monday 8 April, having won a QCWA essay contest. He wrote about his desire to return to Emerald after studies to live and work in the region The QCWA Central Highlands Division awards the bursary annually to a full-time, first-year student at CQU whose home address is in the Central Highlands.

QCWA Vice-President Alice Horswood presented Kathy Ramm of the CQU Business Faculty with a $500 cheque and a certificate for Jonathan Ladewig on behalf of the QCWA Central Highlands Division (above).
