Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Sydney Graduate Campus officially welcomed new students for Term 2 at an orientation day recently.

Orientation day is aimed at preparing students for their studies at CQU.

The morning started with a warm welcome from Geoff Wessling, the State Director NSW. Representatives from the Faculty of Business and Informatics then explained the University's academic policies.

After the presentations, students visited stalls set up by University departments and by Medibank and Westpac to find out about services offered.

Lunch was a feast of delicious muffins, croissants, savoury pastries and an assortment of tasty wraps.

The afternoon was devoted to presentations on ‘Surviving in Sydney' - accommodation, safety, transport and Aussie culture.
