Central Queensland University hosted the first conference of Queensland regional universities’ Academic Board Presidents in Rockhampton this week.
Academic Board Presidents lead their respective universities’ internal governance, providing academic and research guidance and leadership.
CQU’s Academic Board President Alan Knight said this group agreed to collaborate to improve the academic quality of higher education in Queensland.
This collaboration will: investigate the provision of courses between two or more institutions; exchange policies to facilitate and streamline quality improvement in academic matters; work together to improve quality management processes; seek to develop links with regional industries; and encourage engagement with regional communities.
The meeting resolved to meet on an annual basis and to exchange information regularly via a discussion group.
Keynote speaker for the conference was Robyn Harris, from the Australian Universities Quality Agency.
Universities attending included University of Southern Queensland, University of the Sunshine Coast and James Cook University.
