CQUniversity's current STEPS (Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies) distance education students came together for a ‘Big Day on Campus' at CQUniversity campuses recently.

Students from Rockhampton, Gladstone, Mackay and Bundaberg regions came together at their local campuses to spend a day exploring the campus, talking with lecturers and chatting with fellow students.

External STEPs Program Coordinator Wendy Davis said the idea was to give distance students an opportunity to get motivated for Term 2 of study.

"In the mid year break students can often lose some of their enthusiasm for another 12 weeks of study.  The Big Day on Campus was a way of kickstarting them for Term 2 and hopefully successfully completing STEPS".

While on campus, students took part in a variety of sessions including library skills, essay writing and maths.

Students thought it was a very informative day and provided a better understanding of all aspects of the course and the University.

They thought it was good to meet other distance students and that they would recommend it to other distance STEPs students.
