Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU welcomes another export award 

Central Queensland University has welcomed another export award, to add to the State and national export awards it has won in recent years.

Wednesday night (Sept 24) at Mackay\'s Ocean International Resort, it was announced that CQU has won the Education Category for the 2003 CQ Regional Export Awards and is now eligible for selection for the Premier of Queensland\'s Export Awards on October 22 in Brisbane and could be in contention for the national export award finals in Sydney on December 4.

PhotoID:1119 Vice Chancellor Professor Glenice Hancock commented: \"Our win gives us reassurance that we are still travelling very well as a successful exporter of educational programs and that we are viewed as a major contributor to the economy of Central Queensland. \" The Queensland and CQ regional export awards are coordinated by the Department of State Development.

CQU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Resources) Professor Kevin Fagg was on hand in Mackay last night to accept a trophy for the category award, which was sponsored by CHR Group Ltd.

CQU also sponsored a category - Tourism - which was won by Hamilton Island. Hamilton Island representative Teena Flinn accepted the award on behalf of CEO Wayne Kilpatrick.

Central Queensland University was presented with the IDP Education Exporter of the Year Award last year after winning its category of the Premier of Queensland\'s Export Awards 2002 and 2001.
