Thoroughly Modern Millie starts today

CQUniversity's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie takes to the stage today with its first of six performances for the week.

The production has been directed by one of Australia's music theatre leading ladies, Chloe Dallimore, who has been an industry mentor to the University's Bachelor Music Theatre students.

CQUniversity's Professor and Director of Music and Performing Arts Kevin Purcell said Dallimore was perfect for the industry mentor role as she was the lead in the Australian professional production of Thoroughly Modern Millie as recently as 2006.

Dr Purcell said it was great that students based in Mackay often had more access to leading stars of the industry than those in capital cities, thanks to the ongoing industry mentor program.

Thoroughly Modern Millie
is being performed by CQCM's Bachelor of Music Theatre students.

Chloe Dallimore is well known for her lead role as Ulla in The Producers (which earned many awards including a Mo and a Helpmann), and as a guest on TV's Spicks and Specks, but she has also featured in Oliver, Sweet Charity, Chicago, Crazy for You, Annie, The Wizard of Oz and many other productions.  She has performed the role of dance captain and/or choreographer on major productions too.

It's perhaps lesser known but Dallimore's skills were also called on for the blockbuster movie Happy Feet and she was a featured performer in the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

During her early career, she gained a Cameron Mackintosh Scholarship to study Theatre Dance Performance at The London Studio
Centre.
