Time Warp a Boon for Fans - CQCM
Published on 28 February, 2002
An Orientation Week scheduling 'time warp' has proved a boon for CQU's Rockhampton students, who will now be able to experience Rocky Horror and Blues Brothers events in one night.
CQU students at Mackay, Gladstone and Bundaberg will get their dose of Blues Brothers during Orientation Week, and will have the option of travelling to the Rocky Horror main event in April.
The Telstra Country Wide Blues Brothers Revival Show will play to campus audiences at Mackay (Monday, March 4), Bundaberg (Tuesday, March 5), Gladstone (Wednesday, March 6) and Rockhampton (Thursday, March 7). This high-energy, choreographed event features musicians, singers and dancers from the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
Meanwhile, thanks to a scheduling 'time warp', Rockhampton students will be able to enjoy the Blues Brothers event in the same night as being involved in a launch party for a 'Horrors in Rocky' event coming up in April.
The 'Horrors in Rocky' main event - 3D interactive screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show movie presented by Rockhampton Tourist and Business Information and involving CQCM performers - is due on Saturday, April 20, at the Great Western Hotel bullring.
However, the students are keen for a taste of the action, so a Rocky Horror theme 'launch party' has been arranged for the evening of Thursday, April 7, during Orientation Week at Central Queensland University. The 'launch party' will start at the Birdcage Bar on campus and finish at the Great Western Hotel. Free buses will be available to link the two venues. Leading the launch party crowd will be singers, dancers and musicians from the CQCM's Bachelor of Performing Arts program at CQU.
