CQU Golden Years Program Joins the Army

About 100 enthusiastic Golden Years participants will “storm” Shoalwater Bay Training area north of Rockhampton to sample the delights of army life when they tour the training facility on June 18th.

The Department of Defence is allowing entry into the area, accompanied by their personnel, to provide information on how the land is used and maintained for training exercises. Areas such as Samuel Hill and Range Control will be visited with time to enjoy the unbroken 10km of beautiful Freshwater Beach.

“Interest in this visit has been extraordinary. We’ve already filled the maximum two buses for the tour. The interest is so great that we may look at obtaining permission to do another “tour of duty” again,” said Glenys Kirkwood, CQU Foundation Program Co-ordinator For more information on this and other programs run by Golden Years, please contact Glenys at 4923 2512
