Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU scholarship presented to Thailand's princess 

Central Queensland University’s recent sponsorship of an English language study program to a worthy Thai student received royal recognition in Bangkok, Thailand, last month.

CQU’s Global Sales Manager based in Thailand Ray Bishop presented the ELICOS Scholarship to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at the opening ceremony of the new Australia Education Centre.

PhotoID:2057 The scholarship will enable the successful applicant to receive full tuition in CQU’s ELICOS program and accommodation with an Australian family experienced in hosting international students. The successful applicant will be able to participate in campus activities and attend lectures of particular interest to them.

CQU’s Dean of International Programs Professor Debbie Clayton said CQU was delighted at the opportunity to host a scholarship student for such a wonderful cause.

“We look forward to the prospect of hosting an outstanding ambassador from Thailand,” Professor Clayton added.

CQU and the CQU Language Centre have participated in similar scholarship programs including the Universal Cultural Exchange Foundation of Thailand, the Annual Shanghai Cup in China and the English Speaking Competition in Vietnam with Austrade.
