Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

New champion for Australia-India research collaboration 

CQUniversity's International Program of Psycho-Social Health Research (IPP-SHR) has announced the appointment of Dr Sue Rice in the position of Adjunct Research Fellow.

Dr Rice will head up IPP-SHR's Australian-Indian Psycho-Social research program with the Regional Cancer Care Centre (RCCC), Trivandrum, India.

This research project seeks to explore psycho-social health issues within AIDS populations at the RCCC.

Dr Rice is a skilled qualitative health researcher who brings to her role over 15 years' experience working within the social work profession, including practice, teaching, research and administration. Dr Rice has also published 10 research publications and reviews.

She has previously worked as an academic at CQUniversity Rockhampton.

This appointment will build on previous success gained from the IPP-SHR Australia-India research collaboration.

Such success includes IPP-SHR's award of $23,400 from the Federal Government Endeavour Award Fellowship, in addition to 2 active research projects which are currently in the data analysis and publication phases.
