Susan explores university life at 58

Susan Foster has always worked in the rural industry.

First with her late husband as a farmer, then as an administration manager for Landmark and for a feedlot and export depot, and more recently as Station Secretary for Newcastle Waters Station in the Northern Territory.

"I have always ‘done the books' and admin work," she explained. However recently she decided she wanted more from her life.

"I was in Katherine at my daughters and saw the advertisement for the LIFT program on the television and thought ‘that is it'."

Having left school at 14 years of age, Susan has had no formal qualifications in business administration, however she has had a wealth of hands-on experience. She now hopes to formally obtain accounting qualifications through CQUniversity.

Now at the age of 58, Susan is exploring what university is all about through the University's LIFT program.

LIFT is CQUniversity's newest preparatory program which is designed to fast-track pathways into university.

The Lift program offers one free undergraduate course to allow students to try university life before enrolling in an undergraduate program.

Since beginning the LIFT program Susan has developed more self confidence and now knows that university study is feasible and worth the effort.

She has also gained a good understanding of the university system and how to make use of it.

Susan now wants to undertake a undergraduate degree in accounting and use this knowledge back in the pastoral industry.

Congratulations and good luck Susan.
