CQU Emerald backs science expo

The Emerald Science Expo held during National Science Week was organised by the Central Highlands Science Centre and supported by CQU Emerald.
The success of the day was evident. About 1500 students ranging from kindergarten to high-school attended.
Students from as far as Tieri and surrounding towns attended the day’s science and energy festivities.
CQU Emerald staff members helped at the Central Highlands Science Centre display.
A large range of interactive options and activities enabled the children to get a better feel for different types of energy, their sources and potential uses.
The CQU Engineering energy trailer with both solar and wind-generated power was popular, as were the other displays by some of the major mining companies in the Emerald region, the local Council, the Ambulance and Police, Emerald Hospital and a large engines section.
There were competitions for each age group, ranging from colouring-in to design and construction of naturally-powered vehicles.
