Pixels of spirituality showcased

A photographic exhibition inspired by an artist’s emotional and spiritual journey will be held at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre in Rockhampton from December 8 to 15.
'Worship in Asian Folklores' is the work of Stephen Lin, a migration agent and solicitor who is a native of Wuhan on Central China's Yangtze River, but now resides in Rockhampton.
Mr Lin has used digital photography as a perfect tool to record some religious sites and spiritual objects in Central Queensland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China. Since his arrival, he has received numerous grants for his photographic exhibitions both held in Gladstone and Rockhampton. His Rocky Chinese Radio Show has been on air for more than two years at FM 98.5 on Radio 4 YOU. Stephen is devoted to promoting multiculturalism and social harmony through community interaction and international engagement. Along with other community development projects, he is also helping the Rockhampton Chinese Association with fundraising toward the restoration of the Chinese Joss House and Temple.
“I prefer a realistic and documentary depiction of what has been practiced in our region. I hope this will enhance the understanding between different sectors of the society and build up a more diverse and dynamic Central Queensland,” Mr Lin said.
The exhibition is supported by the Regional Centre of the Arts and Central Queensland University.
