Flavio Coelho, a Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems postgraduate student at CQU Gladstone Campus, recently received recognition for a paper he presented at an international conference.
Flavio represented Central Queesland University at the 7th International Conference on ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9000 and TQM (Total Quality Management) where he delivered a paper that considered a new methodology for performance evaluation of management systems.
Delegates at the conference voted Flavio’s paper for the best sub-theme award. This acknowledgement was based on the presentation, new content/originality and interest of the paper.
Flavio said that the sustainability of organizations was directly linked to the continual improvement of business performance and management systems.
“To maximise benefits of the system, it is necessary to develop and implement a well-structured performance evaluation process to assist both the business and its interested parties to achieve agreed objectives in a sustainable way.
"My research considers a new methodology for performance evaluation of management systems based on the concepts of the AS/NZS ISO 14031:2000, CSA PLUS 1144 and GEMI - Measuring environmental performance. The methodology can be implemented in small or large companies even the ones that have not implemented management systems,” said Mr Coelho.
