Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Almost 30 nations represented at Brisbane graduation 

Multicultural Affairs Queensland Executive Director Garry Page was an appropriate choice of guest speaker as almost 30 nationalities from all corners of the globe were represented at our Brisbane graduation this week (Tuesday September 2).

Chancellor Rennie Fritschy and Vice-Chancellor and President Professor John Rickard officiated during the event at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre at Southbank.

A total of 148 graduates attended. Jyoti Sharma was the graduate delivering the closing address on behalf of the graduates.

Mr Page has a role involving working in close partnership with the community and multicultural community leaders and he has a passionate interest in the continued promotion of multiculturalism and the development of positive community relations.
