Crisis dollars aid available to CQUni students

CQUniversity will make available emergency one-off Grants of up to $1000 each to eligible flood-stricken enrolled students who need funds to cover their study-related expenses as part of the University's comprehensive response to students affected by the Central  Queensland flood, it was announced this week.

Funds are limited and students seeking the financial aid will be required to participate in an interview, demonstrate low personal or family income and provide detailed reasons for their request of assistance.

PhotoID:10261"We know that some students will be doing it tough over the next few weeks and months. Books and study aids have been lost. We'll be doing everything we can to assist those students who are in real need," said Vice Chancellor Scott Bowman.

The University has also announced that it will waive late penalties for students who have assignments due in January because of interruptions and delays in mail services, advising students  who are unable to submit assignments on time to file for extensions. Final exams, in February, are scheduled to proceed.

If students are unable to attend classes, they are advised to contact their course coordinator.

A new website www.cqu.edu.au/flood has been established by the University to provide continual updates to students and students are advised to check that site daily for new information or call 13 2786.
