Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

VIP visitors help Rocky academics freshen up for new term 

A selection of VIP visitors will be in Rockhampton next week (next Thursday and Friday, February 22-23) to help CQU academics freshen up for the new term.

Leading the pack is visiting Canadian Gary Poole, co-author of 'Effective Teaching with Technology in Higher Education'.

Dr Poole is Director of the Centre for Teaching and Academic Growth and the Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. He has won a 3M Teaching Fellowship, which is a Canadian national teaching award, an Excellence in Teaching award from Simon Fraser University, and a Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for contributions to Higher Education.

Other specialists from around Australia will also take part in the event entitled 'the 2007 Learning and Teaching Showcase'.

The Showcase will be held at CQU Rockhampton, with video links to other regional and Australian International Campuses.

The Showcase will include a student panel discussion; presentations by CQU staff; and a debate on the teaching-research nexus.
