Large contingent of Koreans in Rockhampton

About 60 students from two South Korean tertiary institutions are in Rockhampton on a winter visit.

The groups from Ulsan College and Jinju University are staying with local Homestay families while undertaking English language classes at CQU Language Centre.

Language Centre spokesperson Paulo Vieira said that every year a reciprocal event occurred where CQU students would travel to Ulsan Korea for an English teaching camp.

This camp usually lasted for about 3-4 weeks and was a fantastic opportunity for Central Queenslanders to experience a new culture and travel overseas.

Cohorts for these camps were usually sourced from the Faculty of Education and Creative Arts, specifically students undertaking the Bachelor of Learning Management.

He said the relationship with Jinju University also had potential to grow further with a view to the development of joint programs down the track.
