Gladstone teens to learn ups and downs of flying
Published on 12 February, 2009
There are still limited places available for a free workshop on aircrew survival training and aviation technology to be held at CQUniversity Gladstone from 4.30pm today, February 12.
This opportunity of a lifetime for students aged 14 and over will be hosted by a former member of the US Air force, CQUniversity lecturer Ron Bishop.
The fun but practical workshops are designed to introduce high school students to a career in the aviation, aerospace or information technology industries. Registration is essential.
Those interested can contact Aimee Bartlett on 4970 7247 or via email at a.bartlett@cqu.edu.au
Scouts and guides who attend will receive information that can be attributed to their Aviation Badge (however no practical flight experience will be engaged in).
Ron has worked in the Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron, has been deployed to Operation Just Cause (Panama) and Operation Desert Shield/Storm and has managed 57 instructors (and taught over 300 students a year) at the Air Force Special Ops and Rescue Aviation School in Albuquerque New Mexico.
Mr Bishop has Associate Degrees in Professional Aeronautics, Aircrew Operations and Instructor/ Military Science. He has a Bachelors of Science in Professional Aeronautics and a Masters of Aeronautical Sciences in Aviation Management.
