Campus teams part of Melbourne City Romp
Published on 26 March, 2010
It was 10.30 on a Sunday morning recently as students and staff began to assemble in front of the CQUniversity Melbourne campus. Slowly the teams formed, their backgrounds diverse but their mission the same - to work together in a battle of wits, navigation skills and knowledge of Melbourne geography and history.
The 3 teams from CQUniversity Melbourne were among the 12,000 participants in the annual Melbourne City Romp to raise funds for the Burnet Institute.
The Romp required teams to work through a series of cryptic clues to locate checkpoints and to successfully complete challenges in order to accumulate points for their team.
Teams visited points of cultural interest including one very close to ‘home' on Lonsdale St and the iconic MCG, historical sites such as the State Library of Victoria, the Old Melbourne Gaol and the Old Melbourne Mint and newer landmarks such as ‘The Cow Up The Tree' at Docklands.
The day was enjoyed by all who participated, with many already buzzing about the possibility of participating again next year. Congratulations go to the TECC coordinator Michelle Beatty and her team of CQUnusual Suspects who took out the CQUniversity honours by coming in first with a total of 240 points.
