Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

American contingent visits Rocky campus 

Central Queensland University’s Community Relations department played host to a group of American business people this week during their short visit to Rockhampton.

The group are in Australia as part of a Rotary “World Peace and Understanding” program and to visit professionals in their own fields of endeavour to learn how “things are done down under”.

PhotoID:870 The group included team leader Rotarian Tim Clark – member of the Hamilton-Wenham Rotary Club, and four non-Rotarian businessmen and women John Viola – Assistant Deputy Commissioner in the Mass Department of Environmental Protection, Maureen Daley – a manager of international book sales and rights, Karen Stockert – head of her own graphic design company firm Stockert Design and Stuart Lustig – a psychiatrist at the Boston Medical Centre. The group’s visit to Rockhampton was lead by local Rotarian, Ray Young.
