The entry, chosen on merit, lists Rema's achievements in the areas of civil engineering education and industry, as well as her leadership of (and extensive involvement in) community ethnic groups, language teaching, speech competitions and multicultural projects.

Rema last year won a Queensland Multicultural Award in the individual category of 'Community Services'  for significantly promoting multiculturalism and developing harmonious community relations in Queensland in a voluntary capacity.

Rema said the University and her Faculty of Sciences, Engineering & Health had always encouraged her to get involved in community initiatives.

The Indian-born academic has recently moved to Brisbane, after more than a decade of community service in Rockhampton. More details at: http://uninews.cqu.edu.au/UniNews/viewStory.do?story=4586
