Associate Professor Donna Brien, a recent academic appointment at Central Queensland University, is also a professional author who specialises in creative non-fiction and who is known for her Girl's  Guide series for Allen &  Unwin.

Associate Professor Jen Webb, a former Rockhampton writer now based at the University of  Canberra, is renowned as a poet and author of short stories as well as for her  extensive academic publications on the creative arts.

Dr Brien said participants would be able to gain feedback on their current projects and  draw inspiration from their natural surroundings.

"The writers will refine their creative and self-critical skills and learn the best ways to get their projects ready for submission to a publisher," she  said.

"After the event, we hope to keep the momentum going by developing a network and sustaining a community of these experienced writers.

The Masterclass for CQ Writers is supported by the Regional Centre of the Arts (RCotA), CQU's Faculty of Arts, Humanities &  Education and the University of  Canberra.
