Students in Years 10 and 11, from as far-a-field as Glendon, Clermont, Collinsville and Proserpine will make their way to Central Queensland University Mackay next week, to participate in a range of activities for National Science Week.
CQU Administration Officer and Science Week Coordinator, Vivien Clift said “the one-day program will give students the opportunity to undertake activities in Science, Engineering and Technology which may help them make informed decisions about their subject choices, and may encourage them to consider career options in these areas.".
This year’s theme is Investigating Space: Inner Space, the Space around Us, Outer Space. The program will provide a wide range of activities to include the fields of chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science and multi-media, where the notions of space can be explored.
“All activities will give students hands-on experience, and will include carrying out experiments, collecting and testing field samples, designing and testing simple engineering constructions, and working in multimedia” she said.
CQU Mackay will also be hosting SCINEMA from 21-22 August, and some of these films will be available for viewing by students as part of National Science Week activities.
