Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Region's librarians attend information week sessions 

Central Queensland University hosted Rockhampton’s Library and Information Week events last Thursday.

About 20 people attended the professional development workshop where Dr Gillian Hallam, President-Elect of the Australian Library Information Association, provided a professional development overview, and UQ Ipswich Library Manager Sue Hutley presented the new models of service delivery at UQ Ipswich.

PhotoID:2131 About 35 people attended the library wine and cheese evening, hosted by the Faculty of Informatics and Communication and CQU Library.

People from around the region attended including librarians from Ergon Energy, Livingstone Shire Council, Rockhampton City Council and local hospitals, along with students from Charles Sturt University studying to become librarians.

Guest speakers spoke on the dynamic information, professional and generational change in Australian libraries.

Greg Whymark, Associate Professor with the Faculty, made a presentation on 'Is Knowledge Management an Oxymoron?'.

A library trivia competition run by the Rockhampton City Council library was won by CQU Library Director Graham Black.
