Sydney cricket a success - follow-up planned

The popularity of cricket amongst CQU Sydney Graduate Campus students was recently reinforced in a friendly round-robin competition held at the Five Dock Indoor Cricket Centre recently (May 12).

Thirty-seven keen students attended the competition, organising themselves into 6 teams consisting of 6 players a side.

The competition was fierce and talent outstanding in what resulted in a 3-hour tournament.

On the day, batters and bowlers were well tested, with many students playing for representative sides in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

What many non-cricket fans (yes they do exist) see as a genteel sport played around high tea became an intense scramble with students letting off some late-term steam.

Organisers of the Day, Rowan Peterson, LSU, and Peter Komsta, Client Services, were praised by students for putting together a great day.

Many students said this was the first opportunity they had to play their beloved cricket since leaving their home country to study in Australia.

After such a great response the Sydney Graduate Campus will be holding its second indoor cricket match on Saturday, June 23.

The price is only $5 per person and includes afternoon tea. Any students interested please contact Rowan (02-9324 5742) or Peter (02-9324 5756) at the Graduate campus or see them in person on level 1.
