Campus head moves from Gladstone to Mackay

CQUniversity would like to advise that Dr Pierre Viljoen recently accepted the position of  Pro Vice-Chancellor (Community and Engagement) and Head of Campus Mackay, and will be moving to Mackay with his family in the next couple of weeks.

Pierre, at Gladstone since 2006, has been a driving force behind community initiatives to foster and facilitate education pathways.

With a reputation for developing numerous industry-based relationships, such as those with Rio Tinto (which is co-located at CQUniversity Gladstone) and the Queensland Resources Council, Dr Viljoen will lead further development of CQUniversity's engagement programs across all sectors throughout Central Queensland.

Dr Viljoen is proud to have shared CQUniversity's journey at Gladstone and believes there is a fantastic future ahead for the University in the Harbour City.

Pierre has stated his confidence that many of the initiatives we have planned and implemented over the past few years will bear fruit in the near future and allow the City of Gladstone to continue realising its potential.

As Pro Vice-Chancellor with whole-of-University responsibility, he will keep close contact with Gladstone and its progress.

The University is currently finalising the recruitment process and advertisement so the Head of Gladstone Campus position can be filled as soon as possible. Dr Andrew Wallace has accepted the acting role of the Head of Campus in the interim.
