Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

38 nations represented at Sydney graduation ceremonies

More than 560 students from 38 nations are expected to attend 2 graduation ceremonies for the Central Queensland University Sydney International Campus on Wednesday, May 9.

It will be the 28th ceremony for undergraduate students (3pm) at the campus and the 27th ceremony held for postgraduate students (11am).

The ceremonies will be held at the Sydney Town Hall in George Street with CQU Chancellor Rennie Fritschy and Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard officiating.

Dr Clive Graham, Chief Executive Officer of The Centre for Working Futures Pty and the futures1 brand products, will be the guest speaker at both events.

As the recipient of a Law Foundation Fellowship and a Commonwealth Project Fellowship, Dr Graham has researched overseas developments in mediation and negotiation and was a member of the team that established Australia's first mediation program, which led to the establishment of the New South Wales Community Justice Centres.

His most recent research has been the economic impact of the Creative Industries in Australia and South-East Asia. In 2005 he became the Academic Director of the Master of Arts Administration and the Professional Doctorate Lecturer at CQU and was the recipient of the Queensland Award for Outstanding Academic Education Research. He is also the author of several books including Enterprise Education (2005), Negotiation China (2006) and Negotiation Middle East (2007).
